Hunter Build/Guide - How to shoot things

Introduction

Welcome to my Shot Hunter guide for Project Ascension. I am Vedartha#0569, member of <toxic> on Andorhal, playing on our Green Team. I play on Ascension for over a year now and since my start i use hunterlike builds. Here, you will learn everything you need to know about playing a hunter build in a raid environment.

Overview

This build will allow for high single and multi target DPS with 4-5K being the current upper limit single target in a 25 man environment in Naxxramas. It is funn to play (no single button smashing!) and as a ranged build grants overview over what is going on during an encounter. You will scale well with gear and with that you can use this build from the moment you hit lvl 60.
However, hunter builds in general are pretty straight forward in terms of AE and TE spend, so there is not much room for filler spells. Also the ammount of items you want to use is extremly limited, whish means your loot pool will be pretty small but on the other side makes the question what items to look for quite simple.

1. - General Information

1.1 Racials

If you want to get the maximum out of your character you can pick specific races to get an advantage from racial trades

Horde

  • Orc: Provides an additional CD with Blood Fury. Its on a 2 minute CD and increases your AP by 242 for 15 seconds if used. This is equal to 34 total AP. In addition your pets deal 5% more damage. Orc is currently the most beneficial race for this build.
  • Troll: Provides an additional CD with Berserking. Its on a 2 minute CD and increases your haste by 20% for 10 seconds if used. This is equal to 16 total haste rating (1.6%). In addition trolls have a 1% higher chance to critical strike if a bow is equiped.
  • Tauren and Forsaken have no notable performance increasing benefits.

Alliance

  • Gnome: Gnomes get 5% more intellect. Carefull Aim converts this additional ammount into RAP and with this Gnome has 10-20 more RAP than other races depending on gear and buffs.
  • Dwarf: Dwarfs have a 1% higher chance to critical strike if a Gun is equiped.
  • Human and Nightelf have no notable performance increasing benefits.

1.2 Stat Allocation

In general you want to use 150 Agility and 63 Intellect for maximum damage. It should be considered, especially during progression, to switch 63 Intellect into Stamina. On some bosses 150 Stamina can be an option if you feel the need for the increased HP pool.

3. - Rotation, Cooldowns and Interactions

General Information

In this section we take a look on our single and multi target rotation. How to use CDs and explain some interactions on abilities and talents aswell changes to our playstyle depending on various factors.

3.1 Basic Single Target Rotation

  1. Apply Hunter's Mark to the primary target.
  2. Use and maintain Hunger for Blood.
  3. Use Black Arrow on CD.
  4. Apply and maintain Serpent Sting. It will be refreshed by Chimera Shot
  5. Use Chimera Shot on CD.
  6. Use Aimed Shot on CD. IF YOU RUN DEADLY AIM RE.
  7. Use Arcane Shot on CD.
  8. Use Aimed Shot on CD. IF YOU DONT RUN DEADLY AIM RE.
  9. Use Multi Shot on CD.
  10. Cast Steady Shot.

3.2 Basic Multi Target Rotation

If you are facing less than 4 targets, keep going with your single target rotation. If you can hit atleast 4 targets, spam Volley. Chose a primary target to apply Hunter`s Mark and Serpent Sting and keep it up with Chimera Shot in between Volleys.

3.3 Cooldown Usage

General Usage: In general you want to use as many CDs (Abilities, Trinkets, Racials) as possible at the same time.

Rapid Fire: Can be used 1-2 times on a regular boss fight. Make sure you can remain stationary and keep your rotation up for its entire duration.

Arcane Power: Arcane Power increases all magic damage by 15% for 15 seconds. This includes Poisons, Arcane Shot, Serpent Sting, Black Arrow, Chimera Shot nature damage portion.
Make sure the CDs of Arcane Shot, Chimera Shot and Black Arrow are ready when using Arcane Power and try to line it up with Rapid Fire for more Instant Poison procs.

Call of the Wild: Is a CD providet by ferocity pets. It requires the Beast Mastery talent to be learned (see section 3 for more information). Make sure it is not on auto cast. It is mandatory to use this abilitie with macros (see section 7 for more information). As mentioned, try to line up this ability with as many other CDs as possible.

3.4 Advanced Mechanics

In this section i will deeply explain some interactions and mechanics.

3.4.1 Auto Shot and Stutter Step

In 3.3.5a auto shot cant go of during movement. I highly suggested to track your ranged attack swing time using an addon to see when your next auto shot is ready. This allows you to interrupt your movement for a brief moment to fire a shot, ultimately increasing your damage dealt over a fight especially on movement heavy fights like C`thun. (see section 7. for more information).

3.4.2 Utilizing Serpent Sting and Chimera Shot

It is importend to understand how the damage on Chimera Shot gets calculated. Chimera Shot itself deals 130% of weapon damage as physical damage. Its Serpent Sting portion is calculated based on the damage your Serpent Sting would deal over its entire duration. This means, everything that increases Serpent Sting damage also increases Chimera Shot nature portion.

Example: If you run 3/3 Improved Stings RE + Talent you end up with 60% damage increase on Serpent Sting. Since Chimera Shot calculates damage based on the damage dealt by Serpent Sting, this will also increase Chimera Shots nature damage by 60%.

This knowledge leads us to 2 other importend factors.

1. Serpent Sting Snapshotting
Thanks to Chimera Shot refreshing Serpent Sting, it is possible to snapshot Serpent Sting.

Snapshotting explained: Snapshotting means, we apply a DoT to the target with as many damage increasing effects on our self as possible and maintain the DoT on the target without reapplying it or letting it run out.

Example: My regular Serpent Sting ticks with around 400 damage. Since Serpent Sting ticks a total of 5 times it deals a total of 2000 damage. Chimera Shot would deal damage equal to 40% of this amount = 800 damage without anny other modifier.
A Serpent Sting used while all of my CDs and procs are up in a 25 man environment ticks with up to 950.

950 X5 = 4750 / 100 = 47.5 X 40 = 1900.

If used on CD, Chimera Shot will refresh this buffed up version of Serpent Sting on the target and with this always deal equally buffed damage.

2. Double Dip
Due to the way damage is calculated on Chimera Shot, it is one of  3 spells in the game that "Double Dip" on certain effects, whish can be used to our advantage.

So what does it mean ?

There are certain mechanics in the game that increase % damage dealt or increase the targets % damage taken.

We use Arcane Power as an example here.
Arcane Power increases all spell damage by 15%. This includes Serpent Sting. If a regular Serpent Sting deals 400 x5 = 2000 damage, this gets increased by 15% to 100 = 2000 / 100 X 115 = 2300.
We remember, Chimera Shot damage is based on Serpent Stings total damage dealt.
2300 / 100 X 40 = 920.
But Chimera Shots nature portion is also spell damage. That means Chimera Shot will also get a 15% damage increase AFTER its damage got calculated based on Serpent Sting.
920 / 100 X 115 = 1058.

As you can see, Chimera Shot gets the 15% damage increase from Arcane Power x2.
This is the case for almost all % damage increasing effects. Including those increasing a targets damage taken, like C'thun during his weakening phase.

3.4.3 Jom Gabbar

Jom Gabbar is a trinket dropped by Ouro in AQT. Its on a 2 minute CD with an extremely powerful effect. However it works differently from usual on-use effects that increase attack power.

If activated, Jom Gabbar grants 70 attack power immediately and another 70 every 2 seconds for 20 seconds. After 18 seconds, Jom Gabbar reaches its 10th stack, granting 700 attack power in total, leaving us with 2 seconds to make use of its full effect.

700 attack power is an enormous ammount and we can get a huge advantage from it using it to snapshot Serpent Sting. Because of that its important to use Jom Gabbar properly.
We do that by delaying our other CDs (Rapid Fire, Arcane Power, Call of the Wild) to align them with the 10th stack of Jom Gabbar. We achieve this by activating Jom Gabbar and letting it stack to 4. Once Jom Gabbar reaches its 4th stack, we activate our other CDs and continue our rotation. As soon as Jom Gabbar reaches its 10th stack, we recast Serpent Sting within the 2 seconds window we have left with all CDs still running and keep the Sting up with Chimera Shot.

3.4.4 Volley

Things to know:
- Volley can proc Poisons.
- It deals arcane and with this magic damage.
- You can keep auto shot during Volley if you right click a target before you start the channeling.

3.4.5 Feign Death

Things to know:
- Usely a single Feign Death during a combat is enougth to prevent you from reaching a dangerous threat level.
- Feign Death can be used as an interrupt if you are the target of a casted or channeled spell.
- There is a bug, that causes your auto shot to stop working if you Feign and restart combat by casting Steady Shot. You can prevent this by using anny other shot ability (even it is on CD) to restart combat. If the bug occurs, you can fix it by simply clearing your target and than reopening combat again.

3.4.6 The Importance of Instant Poison

On Ascension you are able to apply Instant Poison to your ranged weapon. Not only is Instant Poison a strong damage increase on its own, it also allows the usage of several talents that would otherwise be unavailable to us or just to weak to be considered an option.

We take a look at Elemental Focus from Elemental Shamane tree. Instant Poison will trigger this talent, but will not consume it, since only spells with a mana cost do so. In combination with Elemental Oath, this talent will provide us with an permanent 10% damage increase to all of our nature damage dealt, making it a viable option to pick since it will translate to 4-5% damage increase + 5% spell crit chance for the entire raid, for a total of 3 TE.

3.4.7 Deadly Aim

Deadly Aim grants your auto shots a chance to reset the CD of Aimed Shot and increases the damage it deals by 50%.
If you run this RE, use an addon (see section 7 for more information) to track its proc, since Aimed Shot becomes an importend priority when the RE is used.

3.4.8 Arcane Shot - VS - Explosive Shot

Arcane Shot is the better option for single target fights in this build simply to the fact that Arcane Shot has more and better supporting talents and REs than Explosive Shot. Explosive Shot becomes immediately better than Arcane Shot, even without changing anny other talent or RE if you are able to constantly hit a second target with it. On cleave heavy fights Explosive Shot will be the better pick and investing into additional talents to support it like Sniper Training can be a huge advantage.

4. - Choosing a Pet and Lone Wolf

General Information

In this section we look at the various pets we can tame and whish one we should use in a raid environment as well how to control it.

4.1 Viable Pets

A pet itself will deal around 200-400 dps (higher end with Go for the Throat talent) but most importantly grants the hunter a variety of additional buffs and abilities.
First of all, in terms of pure dps increase, the best pet is a wolf. In general it doesnt matter what wolf you tame, since there is no benefit from taming a rare or elite spawn. All tamed pets have the same stats.

Why wolf ?

The wolf is the only pet that directly increas the players damage dealt with its ability Furious Howl, increasing attack power. In addition to this it is a ferocity pet, whish talents provide the best damage increasing talents.

Other viable pets are:

- Tallstrider (damage mitigation)
- Birds of Prey (Disarm)
- Gorilla (additional interrupt)
- Turtel (highest damage reduction)
- Bear (highest threat generation)
- Chimera (PvP)

4.2 Beast Mastery

The Beast Mastery talent adds 6 talent points to our pets, that is why pickt it. Exotic Pets do not deal more damage than normal pets, they are just an extension to the variety of pets you can tame.

4.3 Pet Talents

Ferocity Talents for the wolf: https://db.rising-gods.de/?petcalc#0cd00Rs00hoob

Bloodthirsty: will make sure your pet is always happy, however if its happynes falls of from green state before pull, you should still feed it. A very happy pet deals 125% damage while a unhappy one only deals 75%.
Boar's Speed: Increases your pets movement speed. More speed = faster on the target = more damage.

4.4 Lone Wolf - NOTE! Currently not available on Andorhal and LS!

Lone Wolf is a talent in the Survival Hunter Tree that increases the daamge of all Hunter Abilities and Auto Shot by 5/10% if you dont control a pet. It makes it possible to play Hunter Builds without a pet by compensating the damage of it.

However, Lone Wolf isnt a direct damage increase over Tame Beast. A Pets damage alone takes 6-10% of your total damage depending on how much talents are invested into the pet and you lose additional benefits from it including the Furious Howl from Wolf, Culling the Herd and Call of the Wild.

Lone Wolf becomes a viable option when the damage dealt by your pet is mediocre on a fight, for example Gothik the Harvester, since this is a pure AOE encounter and the damage of your pet becomes almost irrelevant here. It also comes to use when you are not able to use a pet for a reason like on Heigan first release when he would kill all pets with his eruptions and making them completly useless.

5. - Statistics and Priorities

General Information

On this section i try to explain the importance of the different stats.

5.1 PvE Power.

soon

5.2 Stat Priority.

1. Min - Max Weapon Damage
2. Hit
3. Agility
4. Crit Chance
5. Intellect
6. Attack Power/Ranged Attack Power
7. Armor Penetration
8. Haste
9. Stamina

5.3 Further Explanation

1. Min - Max Weapon Damage

Most hunter shots use a percentage amount of your weapon damage as base to calculate damage. This refers to the amount of damage shown in your character sheet. That means as higher the damage in your character sheet, as higher your damaging abilities will hit. Since the majority of our spells use percentage calculation, and are limited by there own CD, and we cant increase the amount of uses with a faster weapon, we want slow weapons with as much min - max damage as possible. That means even weapons with a higher dps does not have to be the best pick if they are fast and/or have a lower min-max damage.

This is not the case for all abilities. An example is Steady Shot dealing normalized weapon damage. In general all spells and abilities on 3.3.5a deal damage based on 5 different ways of calculation. Those are:

- Percentage Weapon Damage: The ability deals an percentage amount of the weapon damage displayed in your character sheet. Example: Aimed Shot is dealing 130% of your sheet damage + a fix amount of bonus damage.

- Normalized Weapon Damage: Normalized damage was addet by Blizzard to deal with extrem hard hitting abilities when they were used with extremely slow weapons and to make abilities used with extrem fast weapons to not hit like a wet noodle. Abilities using Normalized Weapon Damage will deal recalculated weapon damage based on a fix swing time. For ranged attacks this is 2.8 seconds. So when you use a weapon with 3.3 speed (high min-max damage) or a weapon with 1.8 (low min-max damage), an ability with normalized damage will always deal damage as you had a weapon with 2.8 seconds swing time equiped and calculates min - max damage based on this delay.                    Example: Steady Shot uses normalized damage as base to calculate its damage. Currently this is the only hunter shot that uses this formula.

- School Damage: The simplest and most used calculation. The abilities damage is set to a fix amount and most times gets a dice amount addet. An example is Fireball. Fireball deals a fix amount of damage for every rank + an amount of dice damage. When a Fireball is cast, that Fireball deals its base damage, example 100 + a random amount of its dice damage. If the dice damage is 100, the damage dealt will be 100 + 1-100 damage. Frostbolt works the same way with the only difference being the school of damage set to frost instead of fire. By default every ability deals physical damage if not changed within the Spell.dbc of the game so there is no difference between a Mongoose Bite and Fireball in terms of damage calculation. On top of this damage comes a coefficient for AP or SP or both to let the ability scale with gear and buffs. Nearly all dots and hots are calculated based on this formula with the exception that every tick gets calculated separatly. Example: Serpent Sting deals X base damage + 1 dice damage per tick + AP coefficient of X divided over its total duration. If the dice damage is = 0 or 1, the damage of each tick will always be the same.

- Dummy Strike: Some abilities trigger a dummy strike. That means the ability doesnt hit the target directly with your weapon, instead a spell is triggered that behaves like a weapon strike. Example: Whirlwind will trigger a dummy strike for the off-hand weapon. Iam unsure why there are dummy strikes used but i guess its to prevent certain on-hit procs to be triggered from specific abilities. Currently there is no hunter ability using this calculation.

- Script Trigger: The ability triggers a script that holds all information for the ability to work. Scripts are used when an ability is to complex to handle it using the Spell.dbc or when the Spell.dbc doesnt provide fitting preset flags required to make the ability work like wanted. Example: Explosive Shot is handelt by its own script.

2. Hit

In general all harmful abilities require hit rating to ensure they will not miss a target. How much hit is needet depends on the abilities classification and the targets level. At level 60, 10 hit rating are equal to 1% hit chance for melee and ranged attacks and 8 hit rating are equal to 1% for spells.

The following amounts are needet to ensure you will not miss against a target 3 level above the players level.

- Melee and ranged abilitys: 8% = 80 hit rating.

- White hits with a 2 handet weapon or ranged weapon: 8% = 80 hit rating.

- Spells: 17% = 136 hit rating

- White hits from your main-hand while dual wielding: 17% = 170 hit rating.

- White hits from your off-hand while dual wielding: 24% = 240 hit rating.

Boss targets are always  calculated as they were 3 level above the players level.

For this build you want to ensure that you always have the 8% hit required for your shots to land. Every % hit above 8% will only increase the amount of hits from Instant Poison and there for is such a minor damage increase that you want to avoid getting over 8%.

3. Agility

Agility is our primary damage stat after reaching 8% hit. Agility converts into several other stats. 1. Point of agility is equal to:

- 1. Attack Power

- 0.55 Crit Rating

- 2 Armor

- 0.04 Dodge Rating

There are several buffs and talents that increase our total agility by a percentage amount like Blessing of Kings increasing our agility by 10%. That means the converted stats will also be increased by 10%. This way each point of agility holds a big value on combat stats and there for is the most valuable stat we can have.

4. Crit Chance

Increases the chance for all attacks and abilities able of being a critical strike to crit and to deal additional damage (100% for ranged attacks).

14 Crit Rating are equal to 1% crit chance.

Crit Rating is so valuable to us cause a lot of talents require a critical strike to be triggered or directly increase the power of our critical strikes. Also during vanilla both haste and armor penetration are so rare on items, its not worth to math with them against crit.

The hardcap for crit chance is 100% including debuffs on the target that increase the chance to critical strike against a target the same lvel as the player. For each level above the players level the chance to critical strike the target is reduced by 1% resulting in a 3% reduction for boss targets since they are always calculated as 3 level above player level ultimately setting the crit cap to 103%.

5. Intellect

Thanks to the Carefull Aim talent we convert intellect into attack power at a rate of 1:1, 1:1.3 if you run Carefull Aim RE.

Intellect also increases our mana pool by 13.5 per point, allowing us to use more abilities without using mana generator and there for to spend more gcds on our rotation.

There are several buffs and talents that increase our total intellect by a percentage amount like Blessing of Kings increasing our intelect by 10%. That means the converted stats will also be increased by 10% leading to an 1:1.1 rate and there for making intellect per point better than attack power per point.

6. Attack Power/Ranged Attack Power

All our attacks and abilities have their damage based on attack power, either directly get calculated by it or deal damage based on our weapon damage whish gets raised by attack power as well.

3.5 attack power are equal to 1 weapon DPS.

There is no difference for us in attack power and ranged attack power however ranged attack power will only apply to the ranged character sheet. On the other side we want to avoid anny talent or item that only increases melee attack power like Armored to the Teeth from fury warrior tree.

7. Armor Penetration

Armor Penetration cause all physical attacks to ignore a percentage amount of the targets armor. That means 100% armor penetration would allow your physical attacks to completly ignore the targets armor. A fully physical damaging build would get around 40% - 50% damage increase by reaching 100% armor penetration. For now I dont know the exact values for armor penetration rating per % at level 60 since armor penetration is allmost none existend in vanilla.

There is a difference between Armor Penetration and Armor Reduction that is importend to know.

Armor Penetration cause attacks to bypass the targets armor while armor reduction reduces the ammount of armor the target have. Armor reduction is applyed first and armor penetration cause us to bypass the ammount of armor that is left. So 50% armor penetration + 20% armor reduction will not lead to 70% penetration. Instead it will be 60%.

100 / 4000 = 0.025 x (4000 / 100 x 80 = 3200 ( 3200 / 2 = 1600 + 800 = 2400) = 60

YAY! Iam horrible at math so do the rest yourself <.<

Armor Penetration will gain more value as soon as it becomes available in larger quantities in TBC.

8. Haste

Reduces the time between auto shots and with that increases the amount of various procs like Instant Poison, Deadly Aim and many more.

Also reduces the cast time of Steady Shot and channel time of Volley.

10 haste rating are equal to 1% haste.

Haste increasing effects stack multiplicative not additive. So you will encounter a diminishing return if you stack talents and abilities that increase your haste. However, most haste increasing talents for our build grant such a huge ammount of haste, that the value gained is still notable.

Math or this build if a 3.0 speed weapon is used and we would have 20% haste from rating.

 100 = 3.0 / 100 x 80 = 2.4

Next we would need to math permanent haste increasing effects like Auto Shot.

100 = 2.4 / 100 x 67 = 1.6

On top of this none permanent effects like Improved Aspect of the Hawk without RE.

100 = 1.6 / 100 x 70 = 1.12

If multiple effects apply, the one with the highest value is calculated first. Auto Shot + Cobra Reflexes after 20% haste from rating.

100 = 2.4 / 100 x 67 = 1.6 / 100 x 80 = 1.28

Haste willl gain more value as soon as it becomes available in larger quantities in TBC.

9. Stamina

Stamina increases our HP pool by 9.4 per point and makes it less likely that we die.

When using the Hunter vs. Wild talent each point of stamina will also convert into 0.2 attack power. However this rate is much lower than Carefull Aim and if compaired with each other there is currently no reason to pick Hunter vs. Wild.

Including the abilities makes sure your pet uses them whenever they become available. Before pets had some problems with CD reducing talents (they were to stupid to understand they can use an ability more often). Note: If you run a Devilsaur you need such a macro for Monstrous Bite or your Devilsaur will not stack the buff up.

#showtooltipp Aimed Shot <-- replace with anny other shot.
/cast Aimed Shot <-- replace with anny other shot.
/cast Rabid <-- you can add anny other pet ability to the list.
/cast Dash
/cast Dive
/cast Wolverine Bite
/cast Thunderstomp
/cast Monstrous Bite
/cast Lightning Breath
/cast Furious Howl
/cast Bite
/cast Claw
/startattack

- Volley. Will prevent deselecting Volley if double clicked.

#showtooltipp Volley
/cast !Volley
/startattack

- Stopcast Interrupt. Cancels current cast and uses Wind Shear instead.

#showtooltipp Wind Shear
/stopcasting
/cast Wind Shear

- Pet Control - Attack. Commands your pet to attack the target.

/petfollow
/petattack
/petdefensive

-Pet Control - Passive. Commands your pet to come to your side.

/petpassive

-Disengage. For looooong Disengages.

Raider's Commendation are a new currency that can be obtained by killing anny raidboss (except worldbosses). You get 2 Commendations for every boss kill and can spend them at Romus the Redeemer, located at Orgrimmar, next to Thrall, Stormwind, room to the left of the throne room, Booty Bay at the inn.

To buy items from Romus you will need the kill achievement of the final boss of each tier. That means you can buy Molten Core items from him if you have the Ragnaros kill achievement but no BWL items if you miss Nefarian. Item prices increase as higher the tier is from where the item comes from and smaler slot items are cheaper than items with a bigger item budget.

You can obtain nearly all items from all previous raids before the latest release, currently Naxxramas, whish is locked for now.

Since it will take you some time to gather Recommendations, i give you a list of some items to spend your recommendations on most efficiently, so you dont waste them.

  1. Prestor's Talisman of Connivery - BWL - Nefarian (91 RC) (123) (93 without Hit). Prestor's is the best Necklace you can get. In fact it is so good, it even outscales all AQT and Naxxramas items for this slot and even lasts some time into BC. Since you can get the Nefarian achievement from looting one of his items from daylie boxes, it is most likely you get a swift access to it and should go for this first.
  2. Ashjre'thul Crossbow of Smiting - BWL - (125 RC) Chromaggus (1537). Another BWL item. The Crossbow outscales all AQT weapons and most of Naxxramas cause of its extremly slow attackspeed and with that very high min - max damage. It will infact last you all the way to Kel'thuzad and only gets replaced by the Nerubian Slavemaker. Since you can get the Nefarian achievement from looting one of his items from daylie boxes, it is most likely you get a swift access to it and should go for this second.
  3. Striker's Set. The 5 set bonus of the AQT Striker's Set is extremly powerfull. It will last you for the entire progress into Naxxramas since it will only get replaced if you manage to obtain 8/9 Cryptstalker pieces. After Prestors and the Crossbow you should start to complete it.

8.5.2 - Gearing UP - Full List

This list is meant to show where you can find upgrades. Still its not a complete list of every item available.

The following rules apply:

  • The number behind an item is its stat level. As higher the stat level, as more valuable is the item for this slot. If an item has more than 1. number, its stat level alters under specific circumstances, for example when an item provides Hit but you are allready hit caped.
  • Only the raw stats got calculated. Only relevant stats have been calculated. Set Boni are not includet.
  • I ignored items that are to hard to obtain compaired to items of equal power, items that primary fit other play styles (Melee/Caster/Tank) and items that aint available for anny reason.
  • If an item is marked with (RC) it can be obtained for Raider's Commendation.
  • For trinkets with time limited procs or on use effects the average stat level is calculated.

Statwights used:

  • 4.0 - Weapon min and max damage

- How can i fix it: Dismiss your pet before mounting up or entering a loading screen.

Blink doesnt move me at all.

- When does it occur ?: When using Blink and your destination location would be on a different height level.

- How often does it occur ?: Often.

- How can i fix it: There is no direct fix to it. You can make sure, your destination location ison the same height level as your current one. It also seems like that it has something to do with your camera angle (no confirm). So you can adjust your angle to look into the direction you want to blink to make it less likely this bug occurs.

Aimed Shot cant be used even its CD is reset by a Deadly Aim proc.

- When does it occur ?: Not sure but it looks like it happen if Deadly Aim gets triggered multiple times in a very short time. It may has something to do with communication between the Ascension Server and your client.

- How often does it occur ?: Rarely.

- How can i fix it ?: Unknown. The best you can do as far as I have seen from my personal experience is to just continue your rotation and try using Aimed Shot a few moments later again.

Volley canceled its channel immediately.

- When does it occur ?: When casting Volley.

- How often does it occur ?: 1/3 of the time.

- How can i fix it ?: Unknown.

Cobra Venom (T2.5 5 piece) stacks to 3 instead of 2.

- When does it occur ?: Unknown.

- How often does it occur ?: Very Rare.

- How can i fix it ?: Unknown.

Aimed Shot and Multi Shot deal the same damage regardless of rank used.

- When does it occur ?: Always.

- How often does it occur ?: Always.

- How can i fix it ?: Not possible. Its an error on the Devs side. Aimed Shot and Multi Shot were changed in damage calculation some time back and since than deal the same damage on all ranks.

Multi Shot cant be used while moving.

- When does it occur ?: Always.

- How often does it occur ?: Always.

- How can i fix it ?: Not possible. Its a reverted change, most likely unwanted.

Must be the most detailed guide I have read in years, although speaking from Hybrid point of view, the OH hit cap on Ascension seems to be 24%, tested in AQT on Bosses. Also, not mentioned bullets from Stratholme and arrows from Lower Blackrock Spire? They are BiS, but may be hard to farm... Maybe you should mention them for hardheads why would want them.

In any case, well fucking done!

Does Battle Stance do nothing for range?

It does but its a Question of Berserker vs Battle Stance and for now Berserker wins. Need the Crit for procs like Expose Weakness, to get more use out of Piercing Shots etc. Thrill of the Hunt talent changes will make Crit even better.

Got the Numbers for DW Cap from Google. Its unlikely someone reaches/goes for it but i check that ;P.

i did not forgot Miniature Cannonballs and Doomshot, but when i first created the Section with the amunition i had to get Kaladin for approvel of the links... and now i have to ask every time i make a small change, even if i only correct a typo. So when i add it, i review the entire section.

But ye, if you have the Nervs for it, it would be an option to farm this bullets/arrows and may keep them for the golden try on Kel`thuzad.

Wow, this is an amazing write up. Thank you! Also, your English is great - you don't need to worry about that side of things.

I'm curious as to how you think a hunter/ranged build might work on the S4 draft server? It was pretty accepted in S3 that it was difficult to roll a hunter on wildcard given the amount of abilities needed to make them work. Do you think this is gonna to be different on S4?

Rolling with a skillcard on a level one char, what do you think would be the most important abilities to pick? Pet and auto at level one,  with poisons or aimed shot skillcard?

You can set up anny Hunter Build from Auto Shot+Arcane Shot+Aspect of the Hawk+Poison. If you dont get Aimed Shot, just dont use Deadly Aim. Def want to get Volley for AE, Steady Shot for filler. Even with that minimal set up you can start with Poison Hunter / Arcane Shot Build than, than try to get the other stuff. Pet is not needet to get a build running, but its the cherry on top.

Howeever, i dont play S4, so dont know how hard it actualy is to get stuff together.

Edit: i believ you can have only 1. 60 talent, in that case, Chimera Shot and get Serpent Sting.

Balance Update 03.10.2019

Season-only changes NOT includet.

  • Cheat Death and Ardent Defender now share a cooldown.
  • Lowered the damage reduction portion of Cheat Death to 50%, from 90%.
  • Cheat Death now has a 2min cooldown, from 1min. The cooldown will now also show as a debuff, like Ardent Defender does.
  • Elemental Devastation no longer triggers from procs such as weapon enchants.
  • Hunting Party now also triggers from critical hits with Mongose Bite and Counterattack.
  • Piercing Shots now also triggers from Multi-shot.

I saw Cheat Nerfs comming for a long time. Its still a great survival CD. But everyone was running it on so many fights they had to do something.

Elemental Devastation - that one hurts, was fun while it lasted. Most likely back to Elemental Oath.

Multi-shot now triggering Piercing Shots! Thats huge! Finaly the spell has the right to exist.

Will update rest of the Guide within the next few days according to changes.
