Dev Update #76

Hey there heroes, hope you have been well. I'm here today to talk to you about updates that we have coming shortly to PTR for you guys to test out. This will be quite a long post, and it will be done a bit in the style of a changelog in order to fit everything here. I unfortunately won't be able to comment on every individual change, but I will do my best to monitor this post and reply to comments.

As a disclaimer, I likely won't be able to fit literally every change and fix onto this pots, so you may encounter some changes/fixes which are not documented here. They are likely intentionally, but you are welcome to bring them up for discussion. You are also welcome to make any reports here to this post and we will do our best to monitor these. Lastly, all of these changes are going to be on PTR first for a reason. You may see changes here that will be altered once they go live, you may see changes here which don't make their way to live, and you may see some changes make it live which you do not see on the PTR.

From here on below you will see all pertinent change/fixes listed. Some fixes will be omitted here like quest fixes, but they will make their way onto the live changelogs once they are pushed.

The patch downloaded from the link will be named Patch-QA. You will need to rename this to Patch-A and replace your existing Patch-A with it. You can use this new patch to connect to live servers, but be warned that you may have some inconsistencies with your spells including incorrect tooltips.

In order to transfer your characters to the PTR you will need to log onto our website and enter our shop. From there select the character advancement category from the server your character is currently on. From there you will need to scroll to the bottom and select the transfer to PTR service. It will cost 0 DP.

 

Seal of Righteousness - Spell power scaling increased by 20% in PvE combat.
Scatter Shot - Now on disorient DR.
In For the Kill - Reworked; now causes your Mortal Strike ability to refresh the duration of Rend on the target.
*Elune's Blessing - New RE. Your Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Wild Growth, and Riptide spells now apply Elune's Blessing to their target. This effect increases the critical strike chance of your direct healing Nature spells on the target by 1/2% per RE.
*Divine Litany - New RE. Your Holy Shock casts reduce the cooldown of your Divine Favor by 1/2 sec per RE.
*Faith in the Light - New RE. When your Greater Heal, Flash Heal, Penance, and Circle of Healing spell heal a target below 50% health the cooldown of your Guardian Spirit is reduced by 2 sec. This enchant does not stack. (currently will not reduce the CD if the target is brought above 50% health by the heal.)
*Sever - New RE. Your Execute reduces the target's max health by 2/3% for 15 sec, stacking up to 3 times. Only affects players. Does not stack. (currently not triggering properly)
*Unending Moonlight -  New RE. Your Arcane Missiles increases the duration of your Moonfire damage over time effect by 1 sec and Starfire increases the duration 3 seconds, up to a maximum of 9 seconds. This enchant does not stack (currently not triggering properly)
Random Enchants which increase the range of spells no longer stack.

Frostbrand Weapon - Spell power scaling increased by 20%.
Maelstrom Weapon - Damage bonus for Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning increased to 4% per stack.
Judgements - Righteous: Spell Power scaling 0.355->0.45 and Attack Power scaling 0.15->0.18.
        Command: Spell Power scaling 0.15->0.3 and Attack Power scaling 0.14->0.2.
        Others: Spell Power scaling 0.27->0.45 and Attack Power scaling 0.175->0.18.
        All: Deals an additional 20% less damage to players.
Lightning Shield -  Base damage increased by 15%, spell power scaling increased by 15% in PvE combat.
Consecration - Spell Power scaling increased by 20% and now deals 5% less damage to players.
Hammer of Wrath - Spell Power scaling increased by 20% and now deals an additional 5% less damage to players.
Exorcism - Spell Power scaling increased by 20%.
Copious Power - Has been reworked. Now triggers from casting Power Word: Shield and increases the healing of your next Priest direct heal or absorb spell.
Find Weakness - Now modifies critical strike chance instead of damage.
*Healing Shield - New RE. Your Power Word: Shield now heals the target for 2/3/4% of the damage it absorbs.
We have clarified tooltips to better indicate if they affect Hunter Pets, Warlock Pets, or both.
Blessing of the Divines -  No longer can proc Guardian Spirit and has a new visual for its damage reduction effect.
Debilitating Roar - Reworked; Now reduces the cooldown of your Challenging Roar by 18/18/20 sec, increases its duration by 1/1/1 sec, and also causes targets affected to have their Physical damage reduced by 2/2/3%.
Vampiric Touch - Spell Power scaling reduced by 5%.
Misery - Now increases the Spell Power scaling of Vampiric Touch by 5/10/15%.
Improved Mind Blast RE -  Reworked. Now increases the damage of your Mind Blast by 4/5%.
Crusade - Now also affects Beasts and Dragonkin.
Improved Beacon of Light - Removed first and last rank of RE. Now reduces the mana cost of your Beacon of Light by 30/30/33%, and increases its duration by 18/20/20 sec.
Savage Defense RE - Effect increased to 5/6%.
Killer Instincts RE - Now increases your melee and ranged critical strike chance by 1/1% and increases the damage of your Counterattack by 4/5%.
*Holy Harmony - New RE. Your Renew also increases the healing your target receives from your Priest direct healing spells by 2/3/4%.
Holy Shield - Spell Power scaling reduced by 20% and threat increased by 25%.
Swiftmend - Can no longer consume the HoT effect of another player.
Pyroclasm RE - Reworked; Now increases the effect of your Pyroclasm talent by 1/2% and stacks up to 3 times.
Pyroblast - Damage increased by 10% in PvE combat.
Immolate - Damage increased by 10% in PvE combat.
Chaos Bolt - Damage increased by 20% in PvE combat and ~10% in PvP combat.
Blaze Ward - Damage reduced by 50% in PvP combat.
Mutilate - Now deals an additional 40% damage to targets afflicted by one of your Rogue Poisons.
Hack and Slash - Ranks reduced to 3 and now has a 2/4/6% chance to trigger an additional attack.
Netherwind Presence - Reworked; Your Arcane Barrage, Arcane Missiles, Starfire, and Moonfire direct damage criticals now grant you 1/2/3% spell haste for 8 sec, stacking up to 4 times.
Crackling Thunder - Attack Power scaling increased to 8% per tick, and now is affected by Thunder Clap modifiers.
Sudden Death - Chance to proc changed to PPM. This should result in higher proc chance for single 2H builds using this talent and RE.
Seal Fate - Now increases the damage of your Eviscerate and Rupture abilities by 4/7/10%, instead of increasing all Rogue ability damage by 1/2/3%.
Playing With Fire - Reduced to 2 ranks. Now grants 1/2% spell damage done and taken and grants your Fire damage abilities 50/100% chance to reduce the cooldown of your Combustion by 1 sec, 2 for criticals.
Sense Demons - Now costs 1 AE.
Genesis 3 set bonus - No longer provides a passive damage and healing bonus.
Bladestorm - Off-hand attacks can no longer trigger proc effects.
*Single-Minded Fury - A new 1 point talent available adjacent to Titan's Grip. While wielding One-Handed weapons, other than Daggers, your Mortal Strike, Slam, and Overpower abilities will trigger an additional attack with with your Off-Hand weapon. These attacks do less damage to players.
*Mental Quickness - New RE. Increases your spell power by 1% of your attack power.
Stormbringer, Deathbringer, Righteous Zealot, Spell Slinger, Frost Lich, and Harbinger of Flame - Scaling increased by ~250% in PvE combat.
Serendipity - Now also reduces the mana cost of affected spells by 5/10/15% per stack.
Booty Bay is now a sanctuary.
You now gain 150 glory from BG victories, from 50.

Empower Healing - Reduced to 3 ranks. Now increases the spell power scaling of your Greater Heal by 14/27/40% and the scaling of your Flash and Binding Heal by 7/14/20%.
Cataclysm RE - Now increases the damage of your Hellfire, Rain of Fire, Shadowfury, and Inferno spells by 3/4%.
Sacred Duty RE - Now reduces the cooldown of your Divine Protection and Divine Shield abilities by 18/20 sec and reduces the duration of your Forbearance by 18/20 sec.
Endless Agony - Now increases your Curse of Agony damage to player by 2% per stack.
Resourcefulness RE - Now reduces the cooldown of your Hunter Traps and Black Arrow by 1/1.5/2 sec.
Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom - Now deals 20% less damage to players.
Improved Steady Shot - No longer consumed by Chimera Shot.
Focused Will - Now procs from DoT criticals.
*Strengthened Soul - New RE. Reduces the duration of your Weakened Soul effect by 1 sec.
Badge of the Swarmguard - Can now be procced by triggered attacks (E.G. Stormstrike and Mutilate) and now shares a cooldown with similar trinkets.
Revitalize - Now has a 33/66/100% chance to be triggered by Healing Touch casts.
Holy Concentration - Now also gives your Greater Heal, Flash Heal, and Binding Heal criticals a 33/66/100% chance to extend the duration of your Renew spell by 3 sec, up to an additional 9 sec.
Sanctified Light - Both the talent and RE now also affect Flash of Light.
*Direct Command - New RE. Increases the damage of your Seal of Command by 25%, but it no longer hits additional targets. Does not stack.
*Firebrand Traps - New RE. Casting Immolation or Explosive Trap causes your auto attacks to deal an additional 2/3% of your attack power as Fire for 20 sec. This damage can critically strike and deals 50% less damage to players.
*Everliving Spirit - New RE. Increases the duration of your Guardian Spirit by 1 sec, but reduces its healing bonus by 5%.
*Powerful Tides - New RE. Increases the critical effect chance granted by your Tidal Force by 15/20%.
Inferno - Now deals 20% less damage to players.
Critical Mass RE - Now increases Fire critical chance by 1/2%, but now also stacks.
Deadliness RE - Reduced effect by 1% at all ranks.
Divinity RE - Now increase your healing done and received by 1/2%.
Shadow Embrace - Now lasts 15 sec, from 12.
Playing with Fire RE - Now increases spell damage done and received by 1/2%.
Nightfall & Backlash - Now also reduce the mana cost of Shadow Bolt by 50%.
Blessing of Eternals RE - Now only grants Nature crit.
Backdraft - Can now be procced by Mind Blast.
Flask of Distilled Wisdom - Now increases Intellect by 65 instead of mana by 2000.
Pyroclasm - Can now by procced by Scorch.
Warlock Pets no longer gain more scaling than intended.
Weapon Forged REs - Now properly state they stack to 3 times.
*Earth's Blessing - New RE. Now gives you Healing Wave a 50/100% chance to increase the charges of your Earth Shield effect by 1. This effect cannot occur more than once every 6 sec.
Improved Life Tap RE - Now properly increases mana gained from Life Tap and an additional rank has been added which grants 7% more mana from Life Tap.
*Improved Wrecking Crew - New RE. Increases the effect of your Wrecking Crew talent by 3%.
*Dark Embrace - New RE. Your Corruption now increases the damage your target takes from your Shadow Bolt, Soul Fire, Shadowburn, and Mind Blast abilities by 2/3%.
You should no longer drop items when dying by falling through the world.
Beast Mastery - When unleared all exotic pets should now be dismissed.
Charge - Should no longer cause targets to move, or appear to 'blink', away from the caster when rooted.
Orb of Command should now properly teleport players to BWL.
You should now be able to learn Expert Riding in Orgrimmar with Exalted.
You should now be able to properly unlearn all professions.
The goblin teleporters on High Risk should no longer malfunction.
Transport boats and zeppelins should no longer appear in random locations in the world.
Players should no longer be able to unlearn individual spells or talents while in combat.
Light's Hope guards should now assist in PvP combat.
Demon Blood Trinket should now have Shadow Resis and Defense stats.

Shattered Barrier RE - No longer stacks.
Tempest Talisman - Now grants passive 14 crit rating as opposed to on use.
Warchief's Blessing - Now properly applies to players and quest completes as intended.
Fire Totems - Now properly scale with owner's critical strike chance.
Zandalari Hero Charm - Cleaned up proc consumption. Is no longer consumed multiple times by AoE effects and no longer consumed by effects like mounting.
Owlkin Frenzy - Now only works while in Moonkin form.
Lava Lash - Now has its damage bonus applied properly while your Off-Hand is enchanted with Flametongue.
Thunderclap and Shockwave - Now proc Deep Wounds.
Moonkin Form - Updated tooltip to indicate you can now gain mana from AoE abilities.
Second Wind - No longer triggers when you perform certain abilities such as using Kidney Shot.
Paladin PvP set bonus - Now properly gives critical strike rating.
Rampage - Can no longer be stacked.
Weapons which trigger additional elemental damage on each auto-attack (E.G Thunderfury) now properly apply that damage. It is, however, not shown in the combat log. This is a blizzlike and intended interaction.
Pets should no longer be slowed when their owner is slowed.
Fixed Rare spawn timers.
Pets should no longer be able to assist other players engaged in 1v1 combat.

Fear and Disorient effects should now corretly update the player's position.
Mental Quickness -
updated tooltip to clarify it's based on melee attack power.
Sheath of Light - updated tooltip to clarify it's based on melee attack power.
Demonic Pact will now give healing power as well and will override Totem of Wrath if it gives higher total spell power.
Charge should no longer fail to be used while you're in water.
Nightslayer 8-set bonus should now work as intended.
All enchants that caused your item to be soulbound no longer does. (Such as librams, ZG enchants, gun scopes).
Fixed a bug where you could unlock doors from longer range than intended by clicking on your key.

 

Reminder to all that this is not a comprehensive list of all changes, and things can, and likely will, change before they reach live servers.

Netherwind Presence - Reworked; Your Arcane Barrage, Arcane Missiles, Starfire, and Moonfire direct damage criticals now grant you 1/2/3% spell haste for 8 sec, stacking up to 4 times.

Another bullshit change that was not necessary. Who in their right mind would put this instead of 6 % haste. This is a massive nerf to any cast based dps build on the server. This change should not hit live, rework another useless talent other than that one. Like arcane fortitude, one of the most useless talents in the game.

it IS a spell in the arcane mage tree tbf 😛 But yeah, I'd also much rather they beef up something useless instead of removing a bread n butter talent for what I can only imagine is a majority of (atleast pve) casters out there.

Can't you use the restodruid talent instead ? Or were you spending 8 TE on 16% haste ?

I placed the patch-A.mpq file in \Project Ascension\Data folder but I'm still getting an issue in game saying my patch is outdated. Anyone know how to fix?

Edit Update:
Tried change capitalization of file, reinstalling file, reinstalling ascension, restarting computer. Feel like perhaps I'm missing something important?

No, i use 11 te on haste, and that is required unless you have talents or set bonuses that gives you more and have a 100 % uptime. And there are only build currently using that. This change will fuck healers and hardcasters and i cant let this shit stand.

I think this will gimp the cc probably to much, there is only stun, silence, horror which has a long cd and short duration and basically one big CC left (fear, poly ,scatter ,trap ,DB).

Scatter is close range you can outplay it with evasion, detterrence pretty easy.

Felhunter can dispel all the magic cc already every 8sec, Berserker Rage breaks fear, sap and gouge on 40sec cd and makes you immune for 6 sec. Undying Faith Talent reduces the duration of Scatter DB by 30% for just 2 Points. Druid Forms vs Polymorph. Blink and freedom for stuns, Blink can also be used to dodge the warlock and priest aoe fear. It just makes the game way less fun if you can not cc probably anymore. The differrence between a good and bad player is being able to predict the instant cc and avoid it.

 

This change just makes the server more unfun and less skill depenend. It favours builds that just rely on sustain and damage, which are super easy to play.

Hi, got some issues on the ptr:

Crackling thunder RE isnt working, tryed it on several items.

Two-handed Weapon Mastery isnt effecting when equiping a two hander.

AND Conquerer 5 set bonus doesnt work.

And same bug as live server: Re-equiping a weapong removes the 3% crit gained from poleaxe RE's

You need to make sure you are downloading the patch linked in this post. It should be named Patch-QA. You will then have to rename it to Patch-A and replace your existing patch with this one.

I did download and rename the file.

It goes into \Project Ascension\Data right?

There was no previous path in folder. I checked hidden items as well.

That doesn't sound right. You have needed a Patch-A to have connected to our live realms. You need to find where it is currently and then replace it with the patch provided.

We've just got a few fixes in for things like Netherwind Presence. We're currently looking at weapon auras and Crackling Thunder not working while Deep Wounds is learned.

Leave Netherwind Presence alone.. 
The 2% haste talents are perfectly well balanced  for casters who want faster based combat..

There is so many other "dead" talents to work with instead.

Really dont understand that change at all. Do you even play the same game? This is really bad. I would rather have reworked at shit talent like arcane fortitude which in of it self are useless and never picked by anyone with more than a dozen braincells. This is change isnt necessary, pick another talent. And you know there are alot of useless talents out there.

Why does the conflagrate spell have a 10-30 yard range? I hope this isnt intended?
